Scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals are articles that have been written by researchers. They have been previously peer-reviewed by other scholars. This source will be more reliable for informational usage.
If you need to make sure you are only getting peer-reviewed sources on any of our online databases, go to the advanced search options. Advanced search is usually below the search section. There should be a checkbox next to the words "peer-reviewed" under the "limit your results" in the advanced search section. If you check the box, everything you pull up should be peer-reviewed. On some of the online resources, the peer-reviewed option and others will appear on a side panel after you have initiated a search.
