Library Fines Policy

Fines are charged for the total days overdue, excluding library holidays.

Regular Items

$1.00 per day– There is a grace period of seven days following the due date that a patron can turn in the item and not have a fine.  If they turn in the item after that seven-day grace period they will have accrued the fines since the date it was due.

Hourly Reserve items

$0.10 per hour to a maximum of $1.00 the first day – Following the first day it is $1.00 per day thereafter.  No grace period applies.

Daily or Weekly Reserve Items

$1.00 per day – No grace period applies.

Interlibrary Loan Items

$1.00 per day – No grace period applies.

Fine Limits

There is a fine limit of $30 per item. If a patron has accrued more than $10 in total fines, circulation will be restricted until the fine has been paid to bring the account to a balance of less than $10.

Lost Items

When an item has been overdue for 30 days and has reached this $30 limit, the item will be considered lost. Upon being considered lost, a replacement cost, overdue fines and a $10 processing fee will be billed and the item will be replaced.
